How do you guys balance your studies and Guild Wars? Like I am having a hard time keeping my mind on my accounting studies/homework. I think I am addicted to GW.

Organize time.
For example, study every afternoon at 5, and play GW after you are finished studying (really finished, not just browse through the stuff). After some time you will adapt and studying at a given time will be more effective, leaving more time for other activities. But that's just my experience.

Homework always comes first, play GW if you have spare time but don't try and make room for it, that's dumb.

Remember Guild Wars doesn't benefit you irl so school is always first.

I always keep guild wars at 3rd, school and another thing are the top two for sure.

You might want to ask those of us with 40+ hour a week jobs, kids, who go to school and play Guild Wars how we manage.

Time management skills. Prioritize. Multi-task.

The most important though: SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK!!!

Sometimes I turn my computer off. I think it probably helps.

I'm only taking 3 courses this term so it's not a heavy workload; regardless, school does come first.

My advise? Stop playing GW so damn much, a game isn't going to get you anywhere. You going to end up with rubbish grades and spend the rest of your life working dead end jobs.

Do what I did, reward yourself!

I use to say "OK I'm going to read or study XYZ before I even think about playing a game" and it was always worth it in the end.

I have a 6 month old baby, and baby comes first. But I still have plenty of time to myself nevertheless.

You can also start snorting cocaine or doing crack, your GW addiction will cease to exist.

Well, I simply uninstalled GW from my laptop a while ago to leave space for a Linux distro. Besides, my lappy is quite old and can't run GW without the CPU fan going wild.

So there, I don't have any problem with my studies. But then, I only have my synthesis project on my last college semester.

It really also depends on how long you've been playing GW. If you are one of those people that have been there and done that, you will be far less inclined to log on and kill a few hours. If you are still relatively new to the game and are still at that stage where you want to see what's around the next corner, I would give it up.

GW is not the type of game that you want to mix in with your studies. If you want a fix then I would look elsewhere, FPS games for example. I've found them to be extremely useful for that all so glorious fix, especially when time is an issue.

Just play when you are relaxing anyways i.e. play during your lunch. NEVER play before the afternoon because it just gets you in the mood to play a lot. TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER! Although you might convince yourself im not going to play it, after a while you can't resist the temptation and click the guild wars icon and boom an hour wasted. I would advise playing at night because by then you are usually pretty damn tired and you couldn't study anyways...

This. I'll let my sleep suffer instead of my fun or studies. My grades haven't gone down (@ Princeton too! speaking of which...time to study for midterms >.<)

I'd advise not joining a guild that requires regular grouping, play on your own schedule.

When it's crunch season, essays come first. 100%. GW is when I need to take a break from dissecting plays, books, and other texts.

I'm not too fussed about giving it up, though, because I actually enjoy doing the work for my majors. XD

I've gone through undergrad and doctor school and worked all through both schools. I still managed time for gaming and my history re-enactment hobby.

Number one thing to remember: School comes first. Period. Get your daily assignments done every day before you ever start the game. It's too easy to game too long and not get the work done otherwise. Use your gaming as relaxation time/reward after you've gotten the work done. Some days you might not have a lot of time for gaming. Some days you'll have more time. My family also doesn't watch a lot of TV. We'd rather game together, and TV is one of the things we give up to have the game time.

This is one of those things that you have to learn in college--determining which things are ultimately most important to you and how to allocate your time. You've most likely spent a lot of money (or your parents' money) on your college education--don't waste it.
